Our Approach

At Kamperett, we take an intentional approach to how we run our business. No company that makes things for profit is truly sustainable—but from the outset, we committed to making thoughtful improvements at every step of the supply chain, through smaller production runs, quality fabrics, and reduced waste. This has been part of our ethos all along, even if it's quietly run in the background.

On Design

We design with timelessness in mind—a lasting quality in both construction and aesthetics. These are pieces meant to be passed down, to a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, or a friend. We ourselves wear clothing from our mothers and grandmothers, and those remain our most cherished pieces, carrying memories and a level of craftsmanship that endures. Choosing a well-made item is a considered purchase—one that stands in opposition to overconsumption, and a decision about how things are made, who makes them, and what fabric touches your skin.

On Production

We work in Volumes rather than seasons, so there is no "last season," no expiration date. Our pieces are made with quality fabrics and sewn with exceptional care, designed to integrate into your wardrobe far beyond a single season. This seasonless approach frees us from an exhausting production calendar and the constant rotation—and waste—of overproduction. From time to time, select styles may be available for pre-order during new collection launches or when demand exceeds our current inventory. By producing thoughtfully and in response to demand, we're able to minimize unnecessary textile waste. We've always made our clothing locally in California, working with small, family-owned factories where we've built close, long-standing relationships. Maintaining those relationships and prioritizing equitable labor practices are unseen components that, we believe, are reflected in the garments themselves.

On Fiber Content

We work mostly with natural fibers, prioritizing silk and organic cotton wherever possible. We seldom use synthetics, and only when a performance need calls for it—as in our regenerated nylon swimwear. When a fabric isn't a natural fiber, it's often recycled, a more thoughtful alternative to the standard option. We've also brought deadstock into the fold, working with the abundance of high-quality surplus material originally produced for fashion houses and couturiers across the industry. We believe in using what already exists, and using it up. Sometimes there's only enough fabric for ten pieces or fewer, and we've come to embrace the uniqueness of these limited, one-off editions.

On Packaging & Shipping

We work to continually reduce the impact of our packaging and shipping, opting for recyclable solutions and eliminating single-use plastics from all shipments. For every order, we also fund the purchase and retirement of verified carbon credits to offset shipping emissions.

On Team & Partners

We treat our team and partners with respect and kindness, always seeking out the win-win. The best outcomes are when everyone benefits and is happy. We offer a beautiful positive working environment, as well as benefits for full-time employees such as health insurance, paid vacation, and flexible work schedules.
